Boudewijn & Githa

It is our mission to contribute to your little and big happiness.

We are Baudouin and Githa van Vilsteren. In 2011 we exchanged life in the heart of Amsterdam for the outskirts of Twente to jointly manage Landgoed De Wilmersberg, the hotel owned by Ferdinand Fransen (founder Arke Reizen). After studying Business Economics at the University of Groningen, Boudewijn started as financial manager and then became operational manager at De Eemhof. Until his move to Twente, he held the position of General Manager of Park Zandvoort. After studying Business Administration at the RuG, Githa worked as a marketer at Amnesty International and as a relationship manager at War Child in Amsterdam.

Surely there should be such a place in the Netherlands?

We got to know each other in Groningen. In 2003 we got married and we have two daughters and a son. In 2010 we took a sabbatical and made a long journey to Hong Kong, Bali, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia with our children. There we visited many special hotels. When we were in the middle of the rice paddies in Bali, we said to each other: 'Surely there should be such a place in the Netherlands? Our wish to run a hotel together got a new and very convincing impulse with this trip. We found that beautiful place, here in the beautiful nature of Twente. Not for nothing was the terrace of De Wilmersberg in 2013 proclaimed 'Most beautiful terrace in Overijssel'. Partly because of our unique location, sustainability is our top priority; in 2013 we achieved the Green Key Gold. This means that we have sustainable and socially involved business operations at the highest level.

Our mission

Our mission is successful when we and our team have managed to get guests to look longingly in their rear-view mirror as they drive down the country road and think: 'We want to get back here soon'. In the five years that we have lived here we have done and seen a lot in Twente. Our Top 5 of absolute 'Must do's':

  1. Go to the picturesque Ootmarsum and visit the beautiful galleries in the town.
  2. Take a walk through Roombeek, the newly built district in Enschede that was hit by the fireworks disaster in May 2000. End the walk with a visit to Rijksmuseum Twenthe.
  3. For the children it's great to go to Landgoed Kaamps in Deurningen; there you can see how various dairy products are made from the milk of cows.
  4. A special walk through nature? The Lutterzand is close by, here you can take beautiful walks.
  5. Rent a car from 'Nostalgisch rijden' and explore Twente in an old Fiat 500, a beetle bus or an old Opel Kadet.

We would like to meet you personally at Landgoed De Wilmersberg, your own country house in Twente!
